A classic Hungarian grand operetta with popular tunes by Albert Szirmai.
With: Pécs Symphonietta, The Choir of the National Theatre of Pécs and the Ballet Pécs
Albert Szirmai and Károly Bakonyi's operetta was first put on stage in February 1916 in Budapest with immediate success. The engineer, István Baracs dresses his groom Miska into elegant clothes and introduces him as Count Tasziló at Count Korláthy's party. He does so to hit back at Count Korláthy's insult. Korláthy humiliated Baracs because the engineer did not want to design the railway according to the count's will. Things get complicated when it turns out that Baracs and Korláthy's daughter fell in love at the village fair the day before the party. Disguised at the fair their emotions had no boundaries, but at the party in the castle a huge social gap is built between them. Finally when Tasziló, the fake-count is unmasked, all the lords and counts including the Korláthy Family are badly humiliated as a result of which Rolla happily chooses Baracs, the engineer.
Happy ending and lots of classic and popular operetta songs!
We play the adaptation done by István Békeffy and Elek Kaszó in the 1950s.
The performance is played in Hungarian.
