When I woke up in the morning, I didn't know what part of the world I was in,' said Cayetano Soto, describing his general mental state while he was creating this piece. The choreographer regards his works as a kind of personal act of communication aimed at relating, through dance, the deepest reaches of his psyche. 'The anxiety and spatial disorientation caused by extensive business air travel combined with minimalist composer David Lang's intense music gave rise to the telegraphic style of the choreography,' he added.

In Six Dances Kylián transforms the Mozartian playfulness and absurd reality into the language of movements. He did not want to tell a story, instead, he based his piece on the definition of the word ‘burlesque’ that features unrealistic heroes in surreal situations. A bold spectacle, great dance roles and a sophisticated style characterise this ballet from a mature era of the choreographer.
